Welcome to Yippy Yosemite!My name is Therese Williams and I am a professional travel writer based in the United States of America and my home country, Australia. My backyard is Yosemite National Park and Sydney. I launched Yippy Yosemite in 2015 to help Australian’s plan their trip to Yosemite National Park and other fabulous places to visit in California and I am bringing it back to life today, on Valentine's Day 2017, which I choose because of my love of travel.  I wouldn't be the person I am today if I didn't put my feet in my shoes and head off travelling.

 

I started my passion for solo travel when I was 18 months old, true story, but I won’t go into that here!

 

During my high school years, I studied intercultural relations, I was extremely passionate about this subject. In class, I was transported to different countries and I had this same feeling when I was reading my text books.

 

The country that I studied was Japan. I studied Japan as my parents took me and my brother’s out to Japanese restaurants often or they would bring home fresh Japanese sushi trays from the Sydney Fish Markets.

 

My teacher organized student exchange programs from Japan to Sydney and I was grateful that my parents agreed that I could host a Japanese student to live with us and attend school with me.  I learned a lot about Japanese culture having her with me 24/7. She ironed her undies and socks, no joke!

 

When I was 21, I set off travelling to America, firstly as a camp counselor and then catching trains and buses to different American destinations.Following my trip to America, I caught a flight directly to Japan. 

 

A few years later, and I was travelling all over Europe, back to America on a university scholarship studying International Communications and Public Relations in New York City and where I lived for many years. I have traveled to India, which I love, Hong Kong, Singapore and Bali.

 

Travel runs through my veins and with my extensive travels, I knew that I would meet my husband and that I did, in summer 2011 when I was living in San Francisco, I met the love of my life, a 6ft blue eyed beef eating American.  We both enjoy travelling together and exploring new places.  On the weekends you will find us hiking, biking, swimming in or near Yosemite National Park or packing the car with our dog Zoro for a day trip out of town.

 

I have so much I want to share with you through words and images.
